Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic physician John E.Upledger. CST is a gentle hands-on method of relieving and enhancing the functioning of the cranial sacral system. The cranial sacral system consists of the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord. The central nervous system is heavily influenced by this system. CST relieves tension and promotes a feeling of well-being by eliminating pain and boosting health and immunity.
By facilitating the body's natural healing processes CST is increasingly used as a preventative health measure and has been shown to be beneficial for helping patients with a wide range of healthcare challenges and symptoms such as:
- Migraines/headaches
- Chronic pain
- Post concussion disorders
- Chronic fatigue
- Depression
- Stress
- fibromyalgia
- TMJ dysfunction
- PTSD
- Sleep challenges
The other systems of the body that can also be improved by CST are; the digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and circulatory.
